Industries / Energy

Project logistics for energy and renewables.

Wind turbine components, transformers and heavy plant delivered to fixed installation windows, with route surveys, permits and lifts planned in detail.

The priority

Meeting fixed installation windows

On a renewables or power project the installation crew, the crane and often a weather window are all booked around a delivery date, and any delay moves an entire mobilised operation at a daily cost well above the freight. We treat the permit calendar and the route survey as the schedule's true constraints from the first day of planning.

How we handle it

  • Survey the full route to the site, including the final access, before any date is committed.
  • Build the schedule backwards from permit lead times, which are the real constraint.
  • Assess whether barge or rail can bypass a road constraint.
  • Confirm terminal and site lifting capability at both ends before booking the ocean leg.

Key challenges

Four challenges we plan around.

Dimensions beyond every standard

Blade sections, tower segments and transformers exceed normal road and container limits by wide margins, requiring specialised equipment and cleared routes.

Sites without infrastructure

Project locations are frequently remote, with access roads that may need survey, reinforcement or temporary works before delivery can occur.

Fixed installation windows

Crane hire, installation crews and weather windows are booked around a date. Protecting that date matters more than the transport cost itself.

Multi-jurisdiction permitting

A single movement can cross several permitting authorities, each with its own lead time, movement window and escort requirement.
